VCE AND VM
Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)
Students at Lalor Secondary College are given the opportunity to select from a range of specialist subjects in fields they have an interest in, which includes the possibility of a VET.
They are required to study either English Units 1-4 or English as an Additional Language Units 1-4.
Over the course of the 2-year program students will study a total of 22 Units.
- 12 Units are studied in Year 11 (6 subjects per semester)
- 10 Units are studied in Year 12 (5 subjects per semester).
To successfully complete their VCE they must:
- Have successfully completed 3 Units of English (Units 3 & 4 are a must)
- Have a total of 16 Units successfully completed
- Have four sequences of Unit 3-4 subjects including English

VCE Vocational Major (VM)
Students completing the VCE Vocational Major pathway will study the following subjects in both years of the 2-year course:
- Personal Development Skills
- Work Related Skills
- Foundation Mathematics
- Literacy
- VET Course
- School Based Apprenticeship & Traineeship (SBAT) – if appropriate for career pathway
Over the course of the 2-years, students will complete 20 Units of work (10 units per year). In order to successfully meet the requirements of the VCE VM, students must meet the following:
- Have successfully completed 3 Units of Literacy (Units 3-4 are a must)
- Have successfully completed 2 Units of Foundation Mathematics
- Have successfully completed 2 Units of Personal Development Skills (PDS)
- Have successfully completed 2 Units of Work Related Skills (WRS)
- Have successfully completed 16 Units over the 2-year course
- Have either completed their VET or SBAT – 180 Hours.
